DescriptionThe course provides the students with a basic understanding of the innovation process and provides the student with a vocabulary related to innovation and product development. The innovation process is conceptualised in a phase model, which is introduced and incorporated in the following PDI courses. One commonly used phase model is the stage-gate model, which is introduced as well as discussed. The students are also introduced to basic techniques to structure gate meetings and set-up teams for the project.
The course introduces the students to team working processes including skills for team work, conflict handling and knowledge sharing. These processes are subsequently linked to innovation projects emphasizing also the effects of globalisation on team work. The student will be introduced to various prototyping methods.
