The purpose of this course is to acquire knowledge on different plastic types and major applications, existing plastic waste treatment techniques, current plastic recycling practices in Switzerland, and current challenges of plastic recycling (including impacts of chemical additives therein). In addition, it intends to equip students with hands-on experience in life cycle assessment (LCA) and chemical risk assessment (CRA), particularly in the context of assessment of trade-offs of plastic recycling under given conditions.
