The industrial acoustics course provides a useful further qualification for EE Master students in that it provides them with a look behind the scenes of a different type of signals: Sounds. As connecting element to the students' EE education serve the common laws and procedures of signal processing, from filtering and FFT analyses to digitization and signal measurements. Departing from there, the students learn about the temporal and spectral characteristics of sound signals, sound design and noise control of industrial machinery, how humans perceive sounds, and which/how R&D methods are applied (incl. software) for evaluating, designing, and controlling machine sounds.
