Data, Disruption and Decisions - Day 3 Data Analysis, Interpretation & Decisions

Teaching

Description

Morning: We discuss data as a commodity. Which opportunities can we imagine, when we view data as a basic resource for organizations to “mine” and utilize? How can organizations use data to improve their offerings, reduce risks and costs of their processes, and to change the very way they do business and create profit and /or legitimacy?

Early afternoon: All organizations generate big and thick data through internal processes, production or when they bring their offerings to the market and users. But not all organizations record these data, and even fewer organizations use this data to improve their operations or strategy. Digitalization allows organizations to increase the amount of data they capture and to store it, as well as to retrieve and utilize this data. To understand what data is and what it can do for your organization is not an easy task. To develop this understanding requires a combination of technical skills and insight into the organization and potential disruptive trends. Guided by Melissa Beach, who is an expert in the field of digital transformation, course participant will gain experience with big data and how such data can be a driver for innovation and decisions. It is not the aim of this course to transform participants into experts in data analysis, but rather to enable understanding of how they can use data to strategically develop their business. To understand what data is, how it can be used and have some insights into big data analysis is vital for seeing the strategic potential of data analysis and how it can inform decisions. To meet this end, you will be presented with different ways to do data analytics, forecasting techniques, assessment models and an in-class demonstration of a selected analytics tool.
