Description

Gaist and colleagues investigated a population-based sample of female twins with and without migraine; 172 cases (twins with migraine with aura), 34 cotwins without migraine, and 139 control participants without migraine. Compared with control participants, cases did not diff er with regard to frequency of silent brain infarcts. The authors concluded that there was no evidence of an association between silent brain infarcts, white matter hyperintensities, and migraine with aura. The debate will no doubt continue, but cardiovascular risk factors should be specifically addressed in people with migraines.
