Abstract

This empirical study uses photovoice to capture well-being in life and at work among Bangladeshi garment workers, follow-up interviews, on-factory site interviews and offfactory site interviews. The purpose is to obtain a holistic understanding of the hedonic, eudaimonic and social wellbeing of garment workers, and whether current tools for improving working conditions in the garment industry of Bangladesh (e.g., social compliance audits and CoC’s) reflect the needs and priorities important for garment workers’ well-being and life perspectives. The paper concludes that an important factor in workers description of wellbeing and job satisfaction relates to their sense of selfefficacy.
