Abstract

Virtual Reality (VR) shows great potential in regards of research and prototyping purposes. Many Industries have already utilized this technology to help aid their creative processes. This project investigates VR collaboration through prototyping, where both users and designers have to be involved. It is aimed at exploring how a creative design process could be translated into a VR environment for new users, who had no experience on VR before. There are two main research objectives. First, design and develop a VR APP that contains an environment for collaborative creative concept design. The APP should have self-explaining feature that do not require any extensive before-hand training. Second, based on the APP, investigate what are the user behaviours in a collaborative VR environment. The results from the final prototype testing workshop indicate that the timed design sprint approach in SprintmasterVR, the final prototype, enhances the creative power in users. Especially in between sprint rounds where users had a private time slot, i.e. they could continue the design work but could not see nor hear each other, which resulted them being more expressive and creative.
