Abstract

Over the last few decades, the growing need for electricity and the environmental pollution concerns have attracted the attentions towards the use of renewable energy more than ever. The tidal energy is a renewable energy which provides clean power with low running costs and is more predictable than other types of renewable energies. A proper integration of tidal power to the power grid is an important and a challenging task. In this paper, the behavior of a tidal power plant connected to the grid when faced with different types of short circuits, the speed behavior and productive, active and reactive power changes are analyzed. The effect of water rip on the stability of tidal power plants is also studied.
