Abstract

This study investigates the Operations Management researcher’s role as a facilitator in research projects targeting the formation of new sustainable eco-systems where coopetition is involved. Based on literature review, a conceptual framework is developed proposing a positive relationship between having a neutral 3rd party facilitator and a successful outcome in projects for increased industrial sustainability. Based on data analysis from a workshop with 24 scholars from the Operations Management and Industrial Engineering research community, the study proposes a framework for drivers, barriers and required abilities for OM researchers engaging in a facilitation role.
