Abstract

With this paper we present a novel Taxonomy of Educational Robotics (TER) based on a set of concrete, though experimental setups of integrating robotics to K-12 school curricula in five countries: Denmark, Germany, Finland, Namibia, and Eritrea. In the era of artificial intelligence (AI) and the fourth industrial revolution (4IR), the expectations from robotics in education are increasing, also in the wider society. The taxonomy illustrates the diversity of ways and approaches robotics can be used in a school context. For practitioners, the taxonomy serves as a map of inspiring opportunities by which robotics can enhance schooling, whether formal, non-formal, or informal.
