Abstract

Septal deviation is one of the most frequent causes of nasal obstruction. Septal deviation may result from trauma, congenital malformations, or age-related changes, and symptoms include impaired nasal airflow, snoring, and poor sleep quality. Septoplasty is the standard treatment. The procedure is generally safe and improves quality of life for most patients, though recurrence of symptoms is not uncommon. Careful patient selection and preoperative evaluation are key to optimizing surgical outcomes as argued in this review.
