Abstrakt

The transition from the labor market to retirement is a critical phase of life. Men, especially, are at risk of negative mental health effects. Shared Reading may be a promising way to engage older men in health promoting interventions. However, the potential of Shared Reading as health promotion among retired men is yet unexplored. This study investigates the links between collective dimensions of reading and mental health and explores how literary practice may contribute to mental health promotion among newly retired men through the investigation of a Shared Reading intervention. Findings and conclusions will be presented at the conference.
