Abstract
Clinically observable seizures occur in about 10% of severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) cases, and with the advent of continuous EEG and detection of non-convulsive epileptic activity, the incidence is often considerably higher. There is plenty of observational and experimental data to support immediate intervention when seizures occur, but no high-level evidence-based recommendation on prophylaxis. This chapter deals with the theoretical and practical aspects of seizure management in severe TBI.
