Abstract
Aim: To investigate factors influencing junior doctor’s choice of geriatric specialist training. Findings: The study emphasizes the importance of promoting geriatrics as a rewarding career choice through targeted education and hands-on experiences. This includes supervised clinical tasks and managing geriatric services, such as falls clinics or hospital-at-home programs. In addition, fostering a supportive work environment with flexible hours, job satisfaction, and strong mentorship can help attract and retain junior doctors in the field of geriatrics. Message: To cultivate interest in geriatrics among junior doctors, it is essential to highlight the specialty’s meaningfulness and provide excellent geriatric education starting in medical school. Moreover, it is crucial to ensure a supportive and balanced work environment.
