Abstract

Robot assisted Minimally Invasive Surgery (RMIS) is widely used for a variety of medical treatmentsnowadays. In RMIS, tissue recognition is a critical step but few technology is available for assistance. To address thischallenge, we develop the Robot Assisted Electrical Impedance Scanning (RAEIS) system. The RAEIS system can bedirectly implemented on most existing RMIS robotic system without introducing external instruments to the surgicalsite. In this paper, we present the concept of the RAEIS system and the achievements in three research directions byearly 2022.
