Abstrakt

Plasma haptoglobin was studied in two groups of healthy young males after physical exercise. In 9 individuals who had walked at a normal pace for 3 h, the plasma haptoglobin level was unaltered; in 16 an average decrease in plasma haptoglobin of 18.2 mg/100 ml was observed, following a 3-h strenuous march. The decrease in haptoglobin might be due to haemolysis, but other possibilities are also discussed.
