Abstract

Parents to originally 332 children with disability have been interviewed and have scored on questionnaires altogether four times over a period of 6 years. The WHO International Classification of Functions, Child and Youth version (ICF-CY) coding system and the Nordic Five-To-Fifteen Questionnaire have been employed.
Also, parents generated own data on their concern for the future of their children through semi-structured interviews.
Psychometric data analysis has been performed together with in-depth Rasch analyses of all qualitative data obtained.
It is concluded that parents can assess disability in their children. Future applications in Health Systems for the purpose of optimizing communication between care-givers and parents are intended.
