Resumé

Ved en arkitektonisk-geometrisk analyse af teatres grundbestanddele henføres det berømte græske teaters arkitektur til to afgørende nyskabelser i den klassiske periodes arkitektur: Indførelsen af centralrums-konceptet ved Parthenon arkitekten Iktinos og indførelsen af cirklen af en af hans umiddelbare efterfølgere. Hermed bringes en række af de største nyskabelser i klassisk græsk arkitektur ind i en logisk sammenhængende udvikling: centralrummet, den korinthiske søjleorden, tholosbygningen og det halvcirkelformede græske teater.
