Resumé

A modular system within a crate is described, which digitally controls electron spectrometers and which acquires and stores 1024 words of data from a single experiment. The system employs 16 data lines, which are coded for addressing specific functions of the individual modules. Without a computer interface and computer, codes are entered from a small portable keyboard, and direct communication between individual modules is possible. When a computer is used, full programmed control and transfer of data are possible.
