Abstrakt

Sinusoidal LC filter are generally placed in between a voltage source inverter (VSI) and a squirrel cage induction motor (SQIM) to lessen the harmonic distortion in the stator voltage as well as stator current and also to reduce the high voltage surges at the motor terminals. However, it may destabilize the operating points of the rotor-flux oriented control (RFOC) of the SQIM drive with filter due to the resonance frequency oscillations as found in the voltage and the current profile of the SQIM. Therefore, the instability of the closed loop SQIM drive with filter at two operating points has been investigated, and an active damping technique has been proposed to stabilize the unstable operating points of RFOC of the SQIM drive with filter by damping out the resonance frequency oscillations without any active power loss.
