Abstract
The introduction asks in which ways the intertwined societal concerns of sustainable development and post-factual truths may be incorporated into schooling by focusing on Bildung and knowledge. It is argued that Bildung and knowledge are key to understanding what education is about since Bildung is the aim of education, and knowledge or content is what is conveyed. By introducing these basic concepts, the publication further aims to continue the dialogue between the Didaktik tradition and the curriculum tradition. The introduction presents four contributions to Bildung in light of sustainability and four contributions to knowledge in light of post-factual truths. Finally, the introduction motivates the final chapter on normativity where educational theories are examined to advance deliberation on challenges of introducing societal problems into education.
