Abstrakt
Internship programs can enhance generic learning outcomes by developing students’ ability to interact with stakeholders in real world complexities and contribute to changes in knowledge and practice. Experience from Denmark and Australia is used as background to show how internship programs can be designed to integrate differences in conceptions of knowledge in professional practices and pressures from short deadlines. The chapter explores how internship can enhance students’ learning and how students develop their role as academics-in-practice. Internships qualify as case based learning when the design of the program focuses on generic learning outcomes over specific solutions to specific problems in the specific context.
