Abstract

In fall 2018, the national Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR) launched a large scale investment into Educational Robot technology, providing 65.000 fourth grade students, with micro:bits. With years of experience teaching STEM related afterschool activities, it is the authors experience, that working with the bread-board and the popular Fritzing diagrams, comes with its own sets of problems. Materials to solve these were developed and a study with four experimental con-ditions in a between-subject design in which participants (N = 172), engaged in a short teaching session on electronics, as well as taking a pre- and post-test, were carried out. Results shows that the provided solutions both strengthened the un-derstanding of the breadboard and limited the gap between diagram and bread-board.
