Existential Communication: A Theoretical Framework for Practical Application

In a post-secular society, the secular and non-secular co-exist, and existential communication in a professional context addresses the existential conditions and the secular and non-secular approaches.
To secure the secular grounding of professional approaches and the respect for the diversity of the subjective lifeworld of the individual, the post-secular negotiation between the secular and non-secular is integrated in existential communication.
The post-secular negotiation is a theoretical concept and methodological approach that enables the meeting between the secular and the non-secular in a post-secular society at three levels: 1) the societal level, 2) the inter-/disciplinary level, and 3) the local level in the meeting between professionals and help-seekers.
To conduct post-secular negotiations, a logbook supports the significant double-loop self-reflective practice and the ontological epoché for the professional in both research and clinical practice. Existential communication as a post-secular negotiation will be discussed related to ethical demands and the potential for resonance.
