Abstract
Research question: Why do companies in Germany make use of financial participation of employees? Methods: Representative CATI survey of HR managers in 1.201 companies and Work Council representatives in 121 companies (that use some form of financial participation) in Germany. Practical implications: Financial participation is still not very common among companies in Germany. Companies see this as an opportunity, to strengthen employees’ commitment to the company and enhance their entrepreneurial behaviour. Work Councils see more advantages for employees than drawbacks.
