Abstract
Dementia care plays a crucial role in improving the quality of life for people withdementia, but encounters complex ethical dilemmas. For example, the question of whether itis ethically justifiable to manipulate a person with dementia for her own good, or of how tohandle a person who does not recognize their dementia. With the aim of supporting peoplewith dementia and their caregivers in these challenging situations, we have developedthe CARE intervention. This intervention focuses on strengthening the ethical confidenceor self-efficacy of individuals with dementia and their caregivers. The purpose of thisarticle is to explain the development of the CARE intervention, including its use of literarytexts. The intervention is implemented as a workshop, structured with an agenda, literarycases, moderation, and ethical principles tailored to individuals with dementia and theircaregivers. In conclusion, we find that it is possible to create an intervention that enhancesthe ethical confidence or self-efficacy of individuals with dementia and their caregivers
