Abstract
Unity power factor (UPF) rectifiers are typically used as AC-AD converters in various power electronics application. UPF rectifier based on current injection circuit is a low-cost solution. However, analysis for such circuits is not discussed in detail in literature. This paper analyses one of such circuit in details. Based on analysis, design guidelines for passive component selection are presented. Furthermore, the active device (MOSFET) stresses are also analysed in the paper which can further be used to select proper MOSFETs. In addition, the analysis also shows certain limitation of the topology under consideration. Such limitations provide details about the application where such UPF rectifiers can be used. The analysis presented in the paper is verified by a MATLAB Simulink model of the rectifier.
