Abstrakt

A vector controlled induction machine based drive is a popular choice for high performance drives system. These drives systems are started in two steps. In the first step, only magnetizing current reference is applied. Once the magnetic flux is established, the speed reference is applied in the second step only. It is set as zero during the first step. Therefore, the startup time of the drive system is high which is often worsened by the magnetizing current controller limiter In this paper, limits of magnetizing current controller and speed controller are varied to reduce the startup time. This is achieved by two proposed methods. In the first method, only the magnetizing current controller limit is altered, and the second method modifies the limits of both the magnetizing current controller and speed controller. These methods improve the transient performance during startup by reducing the startup time. Both methods are simulated and compared with the standard approach.
