The role of gut bacteria as biomarkers and a cause of colorectal cancer- “Bioinformatic deciphering of novel biomarkers”

Projekter: ProjektPh.d-projekt

Projektdetaljer

Beskrivelse

The purpose of the project is to improve current colorectal cancer (CRC) diagnostics by identifying novel CRC biomarkers using bioinformatics. Contrary to most previous studies, which have focussed on populational differences or specifics in the total gut microbiome, we will focus on individual bacteria from patients with bacteraemia, which we know are directly linked to the development of CRC. This could refine the Danish screening strategy for CRC by adding more biomarkers to the algorithm and potentially discover new aspects of the pathogenesis of CRC.
