The Remediation of Education (NOS-HS project)

REED sought to bring together researchers in the field of education and multimodal communication to address two related issues - the multimodal literacies, digital or otherwise, required in the contemporary workplace, and the ways in which they inform, or should inform, relevant educational curricula.
Three workshops were held as planned. They addressed multimodal workplace literacy in a range of fields including management, flight training, financial counselling, civil service, and health communication, as well as the teaching of multimodal literacy in mathematics, science, languages and history. As planned, the workshops included both senior researchers and some of the junior researchers they work with. A consultation session with high school teachers was organized as part of the first workshop.
