Beskrivelse
This research project investigates the role of social media technologies in fostering social change and human rights in the context of rapid political transitions. Specifically, the project aims to create much needed knowledge into the practices and outcomes afforded by social media that NGOs face when using such technologies to operate in non-Western geo-politically important regions. The project is based on two fieldwork strategies: The first concerns collaborative knowledge development and data collection in three international nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) in Morocco. The Moroccan based NGOs have been chosen as the site of exploration as they are key mediators in the North African region. The second strategy is the establishment and strengthening of strategic research collaboration with key researchers in the region. The project’s findings will contribute to state of the art research in new information and communication technologies and organizational anthropology fields.
