Beskrivelse

This project aims to investigate the role of social media technologies in creating social change and human rights capacity building in the context of rapid political transition. International nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) in Morocco have been chosen as the site of exploration as they are key mediators in the North African region. The project is based on two main fieldwork strategies. First, to collect new data on the daily organizing activities of three different human rights NGOs based in Morocco. Second, to strengthen specific ties with researchers in the region. The project's goal is to create much needed knowledge into the impact and negative outcomes afforded by social media that NGOs face when having to operate in a politically unstable non-Western climate. The findings aim to strengthen state of the art research in new media technologies and organizational sociology fields.
