Assembling Artificial Intelligence and Civilian Protection

Building on widely accepted observations on AI in military affairs and its potentialities as relates to civilian protection, my PhD research will examine the practices and materialities at the intersection between AI and civilian protection with an emphasis on micro- and meso-level analysis of specific practices. These will center around the fields of civilian protection, artificial intelligence technologies (AIT), and security organizations. My research is firmly rooted withing Critical Security Studies and applies an assemblage approach so as to take seriosly the role of materiality in protection practice.
