2021 Villum Young Investigator - Engineering bioproduction in photosynthetic microalgae

The current climate crisis dictates a necessary shift towards a sustainable bioeconomy. Microalgae are photosynthetic microorganisms that efficiently fix CO2 and convert it into biomass and bioproducts. Hence, they are ideal candidates for the sustainable synthesis of bioproducts. My team will use innovative bioengineering techniques to develop novel microalgae strains that can produce a variety of high-value compounds.
