I conduct research in the field of political philosophy/political theory.
The main focus of my research is the epistemic dimensions of democratic politics, including evidence-informed policy, scientific advisory systems, the role of experts in democratic decision-making, the moral roles of politicians and civil servants, the use of civil disobedience in a democracy and democratic theory.
My current research project is on the design of democratically legitimate scientific advisory systems. The research project investigates the question of how scientific evidence can be utilized to inform policy in a way that enhances democratic self-determination without compromising the epistemic reliability of the advice. The project is funded by the Carlsberg Foundation.
Examples of my recent research:
I have also done research on the role of dissent in a democracy, including the role of civil disobedience, which I wrote my PhD dissertation on, as well the dissent of civil servants and politicians.
I am a member of the Values and Welfare Research Group at the philosophy section and a guest researcher at the National Institute of Public Health.
