I am a professor of library and information science with broad interests in scholarly communication, information practices, and evidence synthesis. My work examines how knowledge is produced, shared, and evaluated across diverse contexts, from academic publishing to everyday information use by patients and professionals. I am deeply engaged with the role of libraries as essential infrastructures for knowledge access, literacy development, and research support, and I contribute to advancing their practices in the digital age. My research also focuses on responsible and credible approaches to information use, the integration of open access, and the development of methodologies that strengthen systematic reviews and information retrieval.

Information Practices and Access to Knowledge

I work on understanding how different groups, ranging from cancer patients navigating health information to employees managing knowledge in organizations, seek, use, and share information. My skills include analyzing information behaviours, designing and implementing information literacy frameworks and supporting individuals and communities in developing effective strategies for accessing and evaluating knowledge. I also contribute to strengthening the responsible conduct of information use, ensuring that practices remain credible and trustworthy. More recently, I have expanded my expertise into AI literacy, helping people and institutions understand and apply artificial intelligence tools responsibly in their information environments.

Evidence synthesis and research methodologies

I have extensive experience in designing and conducting evidence syntheses and providing methodological support to interdisciplinary teams. My expertise primarily lies in developing and refining search strategies that ensure comprehensive and unbiased coverage of literature but also in synthesis process. Beyond practice, I am committed to advancing methodologies in systematic reviews, helping to strengthen the rigor and transparency of evidence synthesis. This work allows me to contribute to projects that demand careful evaluation of existing research and the integration of findings into credible, evidence-based conclusions.

My research in scholarly communication and research impact explores how knowledge is produced, shared, and evaluated across disciplines. I bring expertise in bibliometrics, citation analysis, and research evaluation, with a particular interest in understanding the credibility of scholarly outputs. I have examined the influence of predatory journals on scientific integrity and studied how open access publishing is reshaping the scholarly ecosystem. Through this work, I contribute to a deeper understanding of the structures and practices that shape the visibility and reliability of research.
