Forskningsområde

My name is Rebecca and I am a PhD student at University of Southern Denmark and a guest researcher at University of Copenhagen. I hold a MSc in Public Health from University of Copenhagen. I have several years of experience with epidemiology and register-based research. I teach Public Health students the courses biostatistics and health factors.

My PhD focuses on the association between childhood adversity and cognitive development. I investigate wheter and how accumulated and time-varying exposure to childhood adversity (e.g. material deprivation, loss of a family member, and parental divorce) relates to academic achievement through primary school and IQ measured at draft board examination in young adulthood.

My PhD is a part of a greater project called 'The Cognition Program' i.e. a collaboration between University of Copenhagen (Professor Naja Hulvej Rod & Professor Zorana Jovanovic Andersen) and the National Institue of Public Health (Professor Trine Flensborg-Madsen who is principal investigator) and many other proficient collaborators. The projects aims to investigate how social and enviromental factors are associated with cognitive development.

I use register-based data from a broad range of sources such as the DANLIFE cohort, the Danish Conscription Registry, and National School Test scores from The Ministry of Children and Education.

I have no conflicts of interests to declare.
