Forskningsområde

Nina Boberg-Fazlic is a postdoctoral researcher at the department of business and economics, where she is part of the Historical Economics and Development Group (HEDG). Her work focuses on topics related to economic growth and development, demography, social mobility, inequality and migration.

After completing her PhD in Economics at the University of Copenhagen, and one year as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany, Nina received an individual postdoc grant from the Independent Research Fund Denmark for the project “Effects of migration – Evidence from historical Denmark”. The project was conducted and completed successfully at SDU, where she has been employed since, now under a another project entitled “Conflict Development” (PI: Paul Sharp).

Nina has published in international peer-reviewed journals, and has also refereed for a number of key journals in the field, such as: The Economic Journal, The Economic History Review, and Demography.

As well as publishing academically, and presenting regularly at conferences and seminars, Nina’s work has also been covered by the press. Her research – on welfare spending in England between 1785 to 1815, and whether this ‘crowds out’ charitable activity – has been covered by The Economist, whilst other work, looking at the impact of Danish migration to the United States, has been covered in the American Institute for Economic Research.
