RESEARCH FOCUS AREA

My research primarily focuses on the interplay between the human microbiota and autoimmune/inflammatory diseases (rheumatic diseases in particularly), and how the microbiota compositions can be used as diagnostic biomarkers and drug response predictors. Also, whether microbiota manipulation can be a future treatment for inflammatory diseases.

CURRENT RESEARCH PROJECTS including PhD studies and planned postdoc projects:

I. the FLORA trial "Efficacy and safety of faecal microbiota transplantation in patients with psoriatic arthritis: a 6-month, double-blind, randomised placebo-controlled trial.” Trial reg.no: NCT03058900. II. the FRONT pilots “Clinical aspects associated with faecal microbiota transplantation in patients with new-onset treatment-naïve rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, reactive arthritis, sarcoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, and ulcerative colitis: A pilot trial.” III. IMPAACT “Immune-competent cell manifestations in psoriatic arthritis Achilles tendons: A prospective cohort-study.” Trial reg.no: NCT03248284. IV. The psoriatic arthritis epidemiology package (PAEP) “Prevalence and mortality risks of gut and lung diseases in psoriatic arthritis: A prospective population-based cohort study.”
