Forskningsområde

Lene Heiselberg is an associate professor at Centre for Journalism, SDU. Her research fields are journalism/media effects and audience research.

Her research examines users' experiences with journalism and media, and she has a special interest in their emotional experiences. In her research she uses laboratory experiments (eye tracking and electrodermal activity) and qualitative methods. Her research appears in Journalism Studies, Digital Journalism, Poetics and MedieKultur amongst others, and her work has been featured in TV2 News, TV2, Politiken, Jyllnds-Posten, Berlingske, P1 and P2 amongst others.

 

Lene Heiselberg is affiliated with the Media Research and Innovation Center, MFI, which is a knowledge center anchored at the Center for Journalism at the University of Southern Denmark. The center collects, processes and systematically disseminates the latest domestic and foreign data in the media field. The goal is to provide current and useful research that gives the media industry insight and inspiration to develop new solutions for the media of the future.

In 2022, Lene joined the Digital Democracy Centre (DDC) at SDU as a steering group committee member.

 

Lene primarily teaches social science methods in the BA and MA journalism programs. She also teaches short courses on media consumption, trend sociology and serial formats. She has extensive experience as a master thesis supervisor within the area of media reception and as external examiner at AU, RUC and SDU. She co-supervises two PhD students and a postdoc.

Heiselberg is the chairman of the board of the The Qualitative Methods Network in Denmark which consists of both academics and industry researchers.
