Kent Wickstrøm Jensen

I am Associate Professor in Organization and Entrepreneurship at University of Southern Denmark. I am also affiliated with the Sino Danish Center for Education and Research in Beijing, China.

My research interest is in mechanisms that shape the cognitions, behaviors and performances of entrepreneurs and small businesses. This includes intentions and motives to start a business, export aspirations, growth aspirations, starting a business, the realization of outcomes for the business in terms of  export, innovation, and growth, and the realization of outcomes for the entrepreneur in terms of well-being, including work and life satisfaction.

One area of particular interest is how different entrepreneurial dynamics play out differently in different contexts, and especially how entrepreneurial behavior and performance is embedded in formal and informal institutions. My research here focuses on how country-level institutions around the World molds different conditions for entrepreneurs relative to their networking, age, gender, and migrant status.

A further special interest is in small and medium-sized firms’ adaptation to new technology (industry 4.0 technologies). My research here focuses on barriers and drivers for adopting new technologies, challenges with implementation, and the relationships between new technology use and firm-level outcomes such as innovation, location of production, operative performance, etc.

Forskningsområde

Kent Wickstrøm Jensen's research interests relate to Organizational Design, Intra-organizational Networks, Knowledge Management and Entrepreneurship. Specific research topics include the effects of motivational and cognitive mechanisms on the integration of knowledge among project team members, organization design principles for virtual organizations, and the effect of structural knowledge exchange patterns on the entrepreneurial performance of spin-offs and independent start-ups.
