Forskningsområder

My research focuses on medieval history-writing from the High Middle Ages and its intersections with literary and documentary discourses. I work on texts in Latin and Old French and I am particularly interested how new literary languages (such as French) began to take on the authoritative functions of Latin writing. Much of my research focuses on how history-writers appropriated the techniques and epistemological frameworks of Roman rhetoric, and I am currently exploring the uneasy relationship between truth-telling and the emotions in medieval history-writing.
