Henrik Bjarke Vægter obtained his Ph.D. degree in 2015 from the Doctoral School in Medicine, Biomedical Science and Technology, Faculty of Medicine, Aalborg University. He received his bachelor degree within Physiotherapy from University College Sealand, Denmark in 2004 and acquired a MSc degree within Pain Management in 2010 (Edinburgh University). He is currently head of the Pain Research Group within Pain Center South, University Hospital Odense, Denmark and holds a postdoc position at the Department of Clinical Research, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southern Denmark. His work focuses primarily on assessment of pain sensitivity and pain modulatory mechanisms in humans, but also psychosocial factors, and pain-related comorbidities in patients with chronic pain. With a PhD within Pain Neuroscience and a MSc degree in Pain Management, he has a strong understanding of several aspects of pain including the influence of biopsychosocial factors in the experience of pain and concurrent management of chronic pain. In addition, Henrik has developed and implemented a clinical pain registry in several public pain clinics in Denmark to facilitated patient involvement in clinical decision making as well as qualitative and research projects on chronic pain in DK. During the last 3 years he has established several national and international collaborations on pain research including collaborations with research groups in Norway, Germany, Australia and USA.

Forskningsområde

Jeg hedder Henrik Bjarke Vægter. Jeg er uddannet fysioterapeut og har en Master of Science i Pain Management. Til dagligt er jeg ansat på Smertecenter Syd og Center for Funktionelle Lidelser her på Odense Universitets Hospital, hvor en del af min tid går med klinisk forskning. Et af mine primære forskningsområder er effekten af træning og fysisk aktivitet på smerte. Jeg er i særdelshed interesseret i at forstå, hvilke faktorer, der medvirker til at nogle personer med kroniske smerter har en positiv effekt, mens andre oplever en opblussen i smerte i forbindelse med træning og fysisk aktivitet.
