I am a physician and researcher driven by curiosity about the body’s regenerative potential and a desire to make care more meaningful for patients. My fascination with plastic surgery comes from its blend of precision, creativity, and holistic patient care.

Together with my research group, I lead a nationwide clinical trial on surgical treatment of breast cancer related lymphedema, a condition that often causes swelling, pain, and functional limitations but is frequently overlooked. We combine advanced imaging and microsurgical techniques in clinical trials, and systematic reviews, to develop evidence-based, patient-specific care. In the day-to-day work of the clinical trials, I coordinate patient inclusion, ensure follow-up consultations, and make sure patients are supported and have someone to contact with questions or concerns. I also manage collaboration across hospitals to make certain that follow-up visits and procedures run smoothly. Beyond direct patient care, I maintain contact with patient organizations and present our findings at conferences, sharing both preliminary and soon-to-be-final results. This helps spread knowledge, raise awareness of long-term consequences like breast cancer–related lymphedema, and guide improvements in care for other patients.

For me, research is not just about generating knowledge, it’s about using it together with a team to make better care for the patients.
