Forskningsinteresser

I obtained my PhD from the University of Bristol in 2003, and have worked as a (Research Council UK) Research Fellow, Lecturer, and Senior Lecturer at a number of Higher Education institutions in the UK (the longest period of employment was at the University of Birmingham where I worked for 8 years). In 2014, I moved to Curtin University in Western Australia to work as an Associate Professor of Research, and since 2017 as a Research Professor. Since July 2021, I have worked as a Professor at the University of Southern Denmark.

My research centres around several interrelated themes: physical activity behaviour change across various life contexts, well-being benefits of physical activity engagement, the synergistic roles of the physical environment and motivation in the prediction of physical activity, weight management and the role of body image to health behaviours and wellbeing. My work is multi-disciplinary and I collaborate with a large and diverse network of researchers across the world.

My research has attracted funding from major funding bodies (National Health and Medical Research Council, Australian Research Council, Healthway, Cancer Council WA, BUPA Foundation [UK], Department of Health WA, Defence, industry).
