Britt Borregaard (RN, MPQM, PhD) has vast experience within the field of cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery. Her experience is related to research and clinical nursing care of patients with heart valve diseases, ischemic heart diseases and out-of-hospital cardiac arrest survivors and their families.

Research experience: Britt Borregaard has participated in several national and international studies, especially with focus on increasing the patient perspective by the use of patient-reported outcomes, PROs. She is the principal investigator (PI) of the INVOLVE study – with the aim of optimizing the clinical pathway after heart valve surgery, and she is co-investigator of the national studies DenHeart and DANCAS, and the international study CONCARD.  

She is recipient of several scientific awards and act as steering group member in various national and international surveys. In each of these surveys, the aim is to gain knowledge of the patient perspective of specific diseases – perspectives that go beyond traditional measurements of mortality, but include outcomes as understood by the patient. The development, testing and measurement of patient-reported outcomes (including health-related quality of life, physical and mental outcomes and symptom burden) are all part of her research profile.

Britt Borregaard has a particular interest and knowledge in research dissemination and communication. Thus, besides the record of scientific research dissemination, she has prioritized different types of research communication: national television news, radio shows and layman presentations. Research dissemination in a broader perspective includes the role as post-publication editor for the European Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing.
