Forskningsområde

Thomas Barnebeck Andersen is a professor of economics at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU). Prior to taking up his current position at SDU, Thomas held positions as both assistant and associate professor at the University of Copenhagen, and he has also worked at the Danish central bank.

His research interests are comparative development, economic history, and growth & macroeconomics.

Thomas has published in such journals as Review of Economic Studies, Review of Economics and Statistics, Economic Journal, European Economic Review, China Economic Review, Energy Economics, Journal of Comparative Economics, Journal of Development Economics, Journal of Economic Growth, and World Bank Economic Review.

His research has been mentioned in outlets such as IMF's World Economic Outlook, World Bank's Doing Business Report, World Economic Forum, Marginal Revolution, BBC's 50 Things that Made the Modern Economy, Wall Street Journal, Neue Zürcher Zeitung, Super Interessante Magazine, and major Danish newspapers.

Thomas' research is also cited in popular books such as The Weirdest People in the World by Joseph Henrich, Origins by Lewis Dartnell, Amber Waves by Catherine Zabinski, Grand Transitions by Vaclav Smil, and The Open Sea by Joseph G. Manning.

Thomas has given testimony before the Danish Parliament's European Affairs Committee, and he has done consulting for the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the World Bank.

Thomas lives in Copenhagen (Nørrebro) with his wife and two children.
