Forskningsområder

I am Assistant Professor of Applied Philosophy at the Danish Institute for Advanced Study (DIAS) and in the research unit, Movement, Culture and Society (MoCS), based in the Department of Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics at University of Southern Denmark. My research is on classical and contemporary phenomenology, focusing especially on applications of phenomenology outside of philosophy, including in psychiatry, psychology, nursing, and rehabilitation therapy. My current projects are on the integration of philosophical phenomenology and qualitative research methods. In particular, I'm refining approaches that integrate phenomenological concepts—such as embodiment, selfhood, or affectivity—into the design of empirical qualitative studies, which can be used to investigate experience and subjectivity across the human and social sciences.

Before joining SDU, I received my Ph.D. from the University of South Florida in 2016. After my Ph.D., I was an Izaak Walton Killam Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Philosophy at Dalhousie University, a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Faculty of Philosophy at University of Oxford, and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Kent State University.
