This course is focused on the applications of power electronic converters in various areas including harmonic filtering, grid integration of renewable energy resources, energy storage systems and microgrids. Each session is divided into two parts, lecture and simulation exercises. You will use MATLAB Simulink to model and analyze power electronic systems and learn how they work and how they are controlled. During the semester, students conduct research on a specific topic within the area of power electronic systems and present the outcome of your research as a seminar at the end of the semester.
