International Conflict Management II: Tools of Conflict Management and Post Conflict Reconstruction

Intensive 2 day course on International Conflict Management taught at Fachhochschule Kiel - University of Applied Sciences.

The purpose of this course is to give students further insight into the theory and practice of international conflict management, both through short term crisis response and long-term reconstruction.

During the winter semester the course will delve deep into the international community’s options and attempts to respond to international crises and (re)create international order. We look in particular at the different tools available to international conflict managers, such as diplomacy, economic sanctions and use of force as well as attempts to rebuild states and societies after war. The course requires individual preparation and active engagement as well as having studied the pre-course readings. For students interested in obtaining ECTS, students must also successfully pass the written assignment to be completed once the course is over.
